Well previously I have written about my underpaid job I have here in lovely WI. But today I realized something. Money doesn't always buy happiness, and although I may be underpaid I have never enjoyed working with a group of people as much as I do here.
I think the phrase "laughter is the best medicine" can go a long way...especially in our filed of work (we manage assisted living homes for the elderly).
Nothing is a better sound then a bunch of people laughing and enjoying each others company. This morning I have had quite a few hard, from the belly laughs...you know the kind that you can't control and sometimes can even bring a tear of joy from your eye....and let me tell you it really does set the mood for the whole day.
I recently blogged about getting out their and using your endorphins...well today I'm telling you to get out there and laugh. Tell a joke, a funny story, or just listen to one...your day will seem brighter and you might add a little bounce to your step.
To often in today's life we forget about the little things because we get wrapped up in issues that, though are important, aren't the reason for living. When you go into work (or you telecommute) take the five minutes to talk with your co-worker...instead of venting a concern or frustration...make it a point to say something good or fun that happened to you, or that your going to do. Try for a second to always see that glass half full....I guess you could say I am inspired from this blog in watching the news on the tragedies that are occurring around the world...and I got ashamed of myself for not being able to fit the 50 inch TV I bought in our cars and had to return and being a grump for the whole day about it....I let something so small and insignificant ruin a whole day....a whole day that could have been spent enjoying every little thing that made me smile.
I sound like Susie sunshine...or Pollyanna....which reminds me of my best friend Melanie...she always said "shorty....play the glad game" because I often came home from my Financial Aid Job with complaints....she always encouraged me to speak of the good things in my day and let the bad things just fall away....
so my challenge to you my faithful three readers....play the glad game for one whole week. Try your hardest to seek out the good things...(I'm not saying ignore all things bad because that comes with life too) I just want you to try to put the bad on the back burner and cook yourself a heaping hot pot of GLAD! And if you can do it for one week...you can do it from now on!
Now get to it !

Hey...is that where my readers went! I am GLAD you're my online PAL! And by the way, I agree it's not ALL about the money. When I took an unexpected pay cut last year, I dropped all my assignments except one that I enjoyed...got free lunch out that one though. However, you're drastically underpaid even if you enjoy your environment, so ask for the raise you deserve and accept something in between if staying there makes you happy...er...glad!
One of your regular readers reporting for duty....Like most people I fing myself focusing on the negative much more than the everyday mundane joys of life..this will be a nice challenge for me in the upcoming weeks
damn...am I allowed to start over with this challenge?..blew it already...lol
